Julian Lennon, John’s older son with Cynthia, has saluted “Uncle Paul” McCartney within the 50th anniversary of “Hey Jude.” The time-busting single– clocking in the vivaz over 7 minutes– premiered on August 27, 1968 in the US. McCartney wrote the song for Julian, who had previously been A few years old at that time. Young “Jules,” for the reason that song was originally sung, was upset about his parents’ divorce. Thanks a ton, Julian. Classy as always.
“Hey Jude” spent 7 weeks at # 1 after its release. It remains one of the most popular records in history, along with the top 5 of your Lennon-McCartney songbook.
On england charts to the week ending September 11, 1968, “Hey Jude” began its run at primary. 2nd was the Bee Gees’ “I’ve Gotta Get a Message for your requirements,” # 3 was “Do it right Again” by way of the Beach Boys” and number 4 was “I believe a bit of Prayer” by Aretha Franklin.
